- Susan Schell has studied jewelry design and fine arts at Virginia Commonwealth University, Maryland Institute College of Art, Studio Arts Centers International (Florence, Italy), and at Parsons The New School of Design. She graduated from Parsons with a Bachelors in Fine Arts where her body of work focused on wearable sculpture and jewelry objects.
She was first drawn to jewelry in her youth and was always fascinated by rocks, minerals, gemstones, and shells. To this day she has an assortment of gems and minerals that she has collected from her travels around the world.
She has apprenticed under master craftsmen jewelers and studied tradition bench jewelry in Florence, Italy.
Her design aesthetic is culturally influenced but refined. Botany and geometric patterning are personal obsessions as well as huge influences in her work.
